Quiksilver Announces Roster for Aikau Event
Quiksilver has announced the 28 big wave surfers invited to the 25th Anniversary celebration of The Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau. The event will be held on one day between December 1, 2009 and February 28, 2010, when the waves exceed 20 feet. Aikau was the first lifeguard at Waimea Bay on the island of Oahu, and a respected big wave surfer. He was 31 when he died, trying to paddle to shore for help after a capsized canoe left him and his crew stranded. He was never seen again.
Visit the official page for the event to see a list of all invitees, alternates, and honorary invitees.
