Not sure how this one slipped my attention, but big-wave star Laird Hamilton is currently competing in the Race Across America (RAAM). Hamilton is on a four-man team called Team Surfing U.S.A. with Rage Against the Machine bassist Tim Commerford, 76-year-old fitness phenom Don Wildman, and Jason Winn, founder of Bonk Breaker energy bars. As of this morning, the team had entered Missouri in a tight three-way battle for first place. But according to a Twitter post from Hamilton's wife, Gabrielle Reece, Winn may have broken his ankle in a fall earlier today. Follow along on the four-person blog on the RAAM site.

watched his training routine on the fitness channel a few months back. it's brutal and he loves it. he's legit on the bike. and probably anything else he wants to try.
