Bike 1, Cop 0

This July, a New York City police officer and a cyclist had an altercation of some sort. The cop claimed the man had been weaving in and out of traffic and tried to hit him with his bike, and arrested him for assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. The man said the cop had shoved him off his bike for no reason.

Fortunately for the cyclist, Christopher Long, a bystander captured it all on camera phone. The video, which ended up on YouTube (naturally), showed the officer, Patrick Pogan, pushing Long off his bike as long attempted to get out of the way.

All charges were dropped against Long today; Pogan has been stripped of his badge and put on desk duty.

Is bike rage spreading? Is YouTube Big Brother in reverse?

Bikers seem to also have some rage of their own...expecting walkers and joggers to get out of the way and FAST. I am training for a race with FITNESS magazine and I constantly feel like I am about to get run over by bikers in my path. Great training plan in the oct issue if anyone isinterested
