Oscar Pistorius's Olympic Dream a Bust
Double amputee sprinter Oscar Pistorius will not be going to the Olympics after all. The South African, who runs on special carbon fiber prostheses, didn't meet the qualifying time for the 400 meters earlier this week and fell short of the 4X400 meter relay squad criteria today, reports the New York Times.
All this came after a successful year-long battle to overturn a ban on "bionic athletes" competing in Olympic track and field. Some said athletes like Pistorius, with his ultra-swift "Cheetah" legs, might have an unfair advantage over the able-bodied. Well, I guess now they have their answer. Good luck in 2012, Oscar!
