Another Climber Scales the New York Times Building
According to the New York Times' own three's-a-trend logic (usually involving the sentence "a small but growing number of ___"), climbing the new Times building is officially the new bungee jumping.
French stunt man Alain Robert did it as a stunt. Renaldo Clarke did it to raise malaria awareness. Now "activist" David Malone did it too, apparently to draw attention to his personal theories on the Bin Laden threat.
Malone, 29, only made it to the fifth floor of the 52-story building this morning, where he unfurled a banner reading "Bin Laden's Plan." He was taken away in an ambulance and later charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, and disorderly conduct.
I say, if someone really has a jones for urban climbing they should try this new Japanese climbing gym, where instead of rock-shaped holds, you scale the wall via fake picture frames, flower pots and deer antlers.
