Dumont To Go For World Record Air
Freeskier Simon Dumont plans to go for world record air tomorrow off a quarterpipe at Sunday River, a resort near Bethel, Maine. The New York Times reported the planned attempt today.
Dumont has a history of big air success. He has won two X Games gold medals. And a history of big crashes. In past jumps he has injured his shoulder, ruptured his spleen, and fractured his pelvis in three places.
If everything goes according to plan, after speeding down and up a 30-foot-high ramp at 50-miles-an-hour, Dumont will launch himself 33 feet in the air, or seven stories above the ground. Triangulated cameras will record the big air, and hopefully, a solid landing.

Did Terje use a specially built half pipe to set the first record? Nope. No go then.
