Taos Freed!
In an historic moment for knuckledraggers everywhere, Taos Ski Valley opened its steeps to snowboarders for the first time Wednesday. That leaves Alta as the only major ski resort in the West that still bars the mighty descendents of Jake Burton. Former Outsider Dave Cox was on the scene and sent us this report and photos:
had a great day wednesday. the ridge was great, the riders
supermellow. my favorite part of the day was skiing down to the deck
as the speed metal band from rez opened up with "%$#@ you and you and
you, %&$# all of you" to the shock of a spring break crowd from the
state east of here. it was beautiful.

Did Deer Valley lift its ban too? Not that i could afford to go there. (and would I even want to?)

The comment about the speed metal song pretty well sums it up: "we don't care if your kids or parents or anyone else is here. We are snowboarders; %$#@ everyone else."
Great.

Too bad that Taos caved to the knuckledraggers. I had enjoyed that there was an area that was boarder-free and I wouldn't have to look over my shoulders for boarders ready to broadside me from their blind side. Guess it was an "economic" (i.e. $$$$$$) decision by Taos?
